2010: a recap

So today I looked at the date and I thought to myself, 'Holy crap. It's almost 2011.' Literally, that's what I said to myself.

Anyway, I thought there was no better way to bring in 2011 than by looking back at how awesome 2010 was. And it was spectacularly awesome.

I ended 2009 on a fairly...awful note. I got into my first car accident EVER on December 31, 2009. Yeah. On my way to meet the boyfriend's mama. Yep. Way to go, me. I figured any year has to be better than that. So I rang in 2010 with the boyfriend, just us two.

January had me applying for Teach for America, hoping to help close the achievement gap. I started my last semester at the University of Hartford. The boyfriend and I switched off weekends of visiting each other.

February had me heading home a lot. I went home for the annual celebration of the Chinese New Year, which happened to fall on Valentine's Day. And on February 13, mama bear fell while running and broke her shoulder. Yep. She welcomed in the new year in similar fashion to me. We're winners. I also started my internship at the Hartford Courant with the breaking news team. Whoa. Fast forward to the end of the month, we celebrated O's 4th and the boyfriend's 23rd birthday, and sister bear and bro-in-law welcomed their third beautiful, healthy little girl into this world: L!

March had me coming home a whole lot to help take care of mama bear and the girls. I had a lot of long days and short nights, and the boyfriend and I traded off weekends of visiting each other. I think I went to the bar a lot too. Nothing terribly exciting happened. Yada yada.

April featured a whole lot of ups and downs. I got closer and closer to graduation. I was rejected from Teach for America and began the job hunt in full force. I was tired and continued to work unrelentless hours. It was a huge blur.

May had me turning 22, graduating from college (magna cum laude hollaaaaaaaa) and me closing the door to a chapter of my life. I left school knowing that I was cutting ties with a lot of toxicity, but I was also saying "see you later" to a lot of amazing people. It was happy and sad all at the same time. A lot of emotion. I moved back home. Oy.

June was filled with events with the boyfriend. We went to a Red Sox game, a DMB concert and then my best friend C got 4th row tickets to see John Butler Trio and State Radio. It was all a whirlwind, and it was amazing. And I was very much so in love. I also got my first "big girl job" as a part-time receptionist. Baby steps, friends.
July featured us driving across the whole state of Massachusetts over Fourth of July weekend to spend time with friends. We had fun and saw some great people.

August was hot and humid, and we ventured to Plymouth at the end of the month for a weekend away with friends. The boyfriend and I also found the perfect apartment and signed the lease on the perfect apartment. I also interviewed for The Dream Job.

September was amazing because WE MOVED! AND I GOT MY FIRST, REAL, HONEST-TO-GOODNESS FULL-TIME JOB! Amazing. I'm a blessed girl. E also turned 2 years old, and she had a fantastically wonderful Dora the Explorer-themed birthday party.

In October I started my baby blog to chronicle my days in my crazy life. I saw my nieces, my car got towed for the first time and we celebrated Halloween in Boston.

November came and went in a whirlwind; we went to Maine, I chopped all of my hair off, we celebrated Thanksgiving with the boyfriend's famalamslam and S got engaged. Oh, and the boyfriend and I celebrated our (official) one year anniversary.

And here we are, in December. We've celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas, traveled to NYC, saw a great concert, and I baked a lot. All in all, it's been a wonderful end to 2010.

And in just a few days, it'll be 2011. I can only hope and pray that next year will be as blessed as this year was. I've had the most wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, create stronger ties with older ones and experience a love so deep that sometimes I wake up unable to wonder what I've done so right to have this in my life.

I hope your year has been just as wonderful and amazing. Cheers to 2011!
