what's been cooking

So here's a fun fact: I can't cook. Okay. So maybe not that I can't cook, but I don't think I'm very good. Or I haven't had many opportunities to try cooking. Mama bear is very much so a do-it-by-herself kinda woman, so I never really got a chance to help her out in the kitchen. And now I'm here with the boyfriend in our lovely apartment, and all I do is bake.

Now, not to toot my own horn (toot toot haha jk jk), but I'm a pretty darn good baker. This is probably due to my sweet tooth. But I'm trying to venture more into the world of cooking. And yesterday I took my first real big step into this brand new world. And I succeeded! Huzzah! Here's the recipe.

Baked mac & cheese
1 pkg (8 oz) elbow macaroni
1/2 t salt
2 1/2 T butter melted
1 3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
8 oz Velveeta, cubed
2 T flour
1/8 t pepper

Cook macaroni as directed and drain. Melt 1 1/2 T butter in a heavy saucepan. Blend in flour, stir in milk slowly and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens. Add salt, pepper and cheese, stirring until cheese melts. Add macaroni and transfer to buttered casserole dish. Combine breadcrumbs with 1 T melted butter and sprinkle over macaroni.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Boyfriend tested and approved. Deeeeeeeee-lish.
