guest post: bridget from tales of me and the husband

I promised you I'd still have some fun things going on while I was away, and I never fail on my promises! Today, I bring you Bridget. Bridget is the reason I really started blogging. After I read her blog, I was blown away and she really inspired me to get going on my own blog. But she doesn't know that. Well...I guess now she does! You really ought to go check out her blog if you get a chance; she's the most gorgeous preggo mama evaaaaah. Enjoy!

Hi guys!  I'm Bridget from Tales of Me and the Husband here blogging for Ms. Alexandria while she's galavanting around doing biznaz (so she says).  Really, I think she's eating bon-bons on the Boston shoreline and asking other people to blog for her cause she's lazy.

Just kidding girl.  I believe you're really traveling.

So, I am gonna post on travel.  Or sort of on travel.  It's a broad topic and it will creep in somehow.  I'm not sure how.  Bear with me.  But, it's something I love.  Like love.  If I had a million dollars, it wouldn't be a flashy car or fancy clothes I'd add to my repetoire... it'd be plane tickets.  Lots of em.  Maybe some Frye boots too.  Cause I do lust after them but not so much their price tag.  Yes.  Frye boots and plane tickets.  Done.

Problem is, as of this moment, I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant and not getting on a plane any time too soon.  Dammit!  Poor planning on my part (just kidding little baby, I am thrilled to be meeting you any day now.).

Here's me.  Me and baby, actually (and, if I'm not mistaken, a stain on my belly--woops!).

So, there you have it.  That bump will prevent any major traveling for my husband and I for a little while.  But I do plan on getting back to it.  Some places on my must-see list are (no, you didn't ask, but I'm offering the information anyway): Argentina, Australia, Spain, British Columbia, Yosemite, Charleston, Austin, Czech Republic, and Austria.  A broad list, yes.  I'll go mostly anywhere.

Right now, though, I'll have to just live with the memories of trips past.  My husband and I took a freaking amazing trip to Italy this time last summer.  We weep a little just recalling how fabulous it was.  So, let's revisit some of my favorite travel-related things just for shits and giggles... since the whole travel thing is a wee bit off the table at present.

+ The food & wine.  We ate and drank our hearts out in Italy.  My favorite was a lasagna pesto in Cinque Terre.  UNREAL.  Here.  See for yourself.  It looks good doesn't it?  And the wine!  White and cold and delicious was how I liked my vino in Italia.  And we did imbibe.  Nothing too crazy but come on, it's Italy!
+ Documenting our trip.  Less than a year before the trip, my husband had given me my first nice camera, a Canon Rebel XS, and I loved toting it everywhere and taking pictures and pictures and pictures.  I never really tired of it and am so glad to have them now.  Cause, when I'm breast feeding in the wee hours of the morning and getting vomited on, this picture will conjure up all sorts of memories and still have the ability to make me happy.
+ Chacos.  They were a great travel-companion and, in my opinion, are more attractive than some of the other comfortable walking sandals out there (like you, Tevas).  I can wear these for miles and my feet are still pretty happy by the end of the day.  So if you're going to Europe in the summertime, put away the grand mom sandals and grab yourself a pair of these!
+ My vacation partner.  My husband, Steve.  He's basically one of my favorite people in the entire world and we had so much fun together.  I don't think we got sick of each other once... and, in retrospect, I'm not sure how that is possible.  Steve?  Were we just on happy pills the entire time?  Either way, he was and is a great travel companion.  We laughed a lot and had so fun taking in the scenes--from country to beach--of Italy.  And, let's be honest, vacation sex rocks too.  In fact, it might top this entire list.  Yeah.  I went there.

Enjoy your travels in my place, people!  Don't rub it in!  I'll get there again!

Thanks for the helpful tips girl! And make sure you go check out Tales of Me and the Husband immediately.

Go.

Now.

  2. Love your blog. Love Bridget's blog. Love Bridget being on your blog. Lol. She's a huge inspiration to me too though. Of course, I could be biased since we are all from Boston which makes us immediately pretty cool ;-) hope your trip is going well!

  3. Alex, we miss you!

Bridget, you can totally travel with baby. Behr has been to: Louisianna, South Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. By the end of August he will hit up Florida and Connecticut too. Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine are on the list for the fall. PLUS they are super easy and cheap to bring on planes. It is the rest of your crew that cost the big bucks! :-)

  4. So I just found your blog and I love it!! I feel like we have a lot in common, so I'm happy to be following you now! Also, I too am obsessed with Bridget's blog, it's so great! I totally agree with her about buying plane tickets and Frye boots if I had an extra pile of money laying around, and I am dying to get back to Cinque Terre, the pesto there is like nothing else! :)
