red velvet cake balls

I've found the best thing this side of ever: cake balls. Little cakes that are delicious and ooey gooey and everything good in life.

Badam.

Red Velvet Cake Balls

1 package of red velvet cake mix
1 container of cream cheese frosting
chocolate chips

Bake red velvet cake according to directions (with water, vegetable oil and eggs). Once baked, remove from oven and let cool completely. Crumble cake into a bowl and combine with cream cheese frosting. I'd suggest using your hands to you make sure everything is incorporated and ooey gooey.
Take combined batter and roll them into bite-sized balls. I like to roll them by hand so they're more individual, but you can use a small ice cream scoop or a melon baller if you want them to be more uniform.
Put the balls in the refrigerator for a few hours. In the meantime, go shopping. Then take pictures of your dog.
Once cool, melt chocolate down in a double broiler and coat the balls with chocolate. Let cool on wax paper. Try not to eat your hand off in the mean time.

I finished these right as our party was starting, so I didn't get a picture of the final products. But you should just know that mine looked kind of ugly and lumpy but tasted beyond delicious. I'm making them again this weekend, so I'll make sure I get a picture this time.

I promise, I'll start being a better blogger. In the meantime, go ahead and make these. You'll thank me later.

  1. I definitely like your shortcut. My friend Lindsey and I took a cake making/decorating class and we did cakeballs...the hard way...all from scratch. This is strides easier!I would make them if my damn bf would eat some. Otherwise, I'll be waddling to work...hahah!
