makeup essentials

It's Monday. And Monday's suck. So let's talk about makeup. Here's what I wear on (almost) a daily basis.
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

1 | Tarte ReCreate Anti-Aging Foundation | I just recently purchased this when my old foundation was discontinued. I wandered into Sephora and asked someone to help me out. I like to keep things that go directly on my face as natural as possible, so after I apply my primer, this stuff goes on. It's super smooth and sort of melts into my face. Plus, it has SPF15, which I love love love.

2 | The Body Shop Foundation Brush | I got a 50% off coupon from The Body Shop and decided to give this brush a try. It applies makeup smoothly and washes easily as well. Win/win.

3 | Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush | So the blush I am currently using is actually also being discontinued and replaced with this stuff. It's light to the touch and blends right into your skin, giving a very natural flush. The pink plum color looks great on my complexion, and I just tap it into the apple of my cheeks with my middle finger. I always look fresh and healthy.

4 | Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil | I've been using Bare Escentuals for years. I used to use their foundation, but didn't like how it smudged onto my clothes. But the Mineral Veil is the one thing I've stuck with for finishing up my look. It keeps me looking matte all day without looking fake.

5 | Bare Escentuals Flawless Application Brush | This brush came with my original Bare Escentuals kit, and I wouldn't ever want to step away from it. Tap some Mineral Veil into the cap, swirl the brush around and then buff it on. Badam. Fresh-faced and ready for the world.

6 | Revlon Eyelash Curler | Essential. For realz. Even on no-makeup days, I make sure my eyelashes are curled. Curse my Asian genes, but my lashes stick straight out. My eyes look 10 times larger once I've curled them.

7 | Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara | I could probably be using better mascara. But this stuff goes on easily, doesn't make my lashes look fake or clumpy, and washes off super easily. But I could use some suggestions for mascara. Fire away.

8 | Sonia Kashuk Lash and Brow Groomer | I like to run this comb through my lashes after my mascara has set. I hate looking like I'm wearing makeup, and clumpy eyelashes are a dead giveaway. After you run this through your lashes, each one is separated and excess mascara is wiped away.

I don't really use eyeliner ever. Only on super special occasions. Like...a birthday or something. I'm also supremely lazy. Too lazy to bother with the precision of eyeliner.

What about you? What are your daily makeup essentials?

  1. I have to try that foundation! I'm a fan of Maybelline's Dream Mousse but I'm just not sure of the chemicals in it and it kind of freaks me out. I mean, it's a mousse ... and makeup. How can that be safe?!

  2. I totally agree about #4 - the foundation didn't really work for me but I still use the blush & mineral veil!

  3. Love me some Mineral Veil (need more of it stat), totally agree about the eyelash curler I curl those babies everyday, and NEED to try this Dream Bouncy Blush!!

  4. I have been wanting to try out that Dream Bouncy blush becaues it just looks so fun...I am totally a marketer's dream and anytime I see an ad for new makeup, I just have to try it...LOL!

  5. I always brush through my eyelashes when I wear mascara! I can't stand the clumpy look.

  6. I seriously love Bare Minerals. The best and so easy! :)

  7. I love Bare Minerals it has made such a huge change in my life. I`ll have to try out some of the products you listed. xo

  8. Bare Minerals is the best. So lightweight.
I have been wanting to try the tarte line!
Hope you had a beautiful Easter Alex!

  9. I use the same blush (I think...Maybelline dream matte mousse??). I love it!

I'm really thinking I need an eyelash curler though...

  10. I have heard great things about Maybelline's blush--a few friends rave about the dream matte ones. My makeup bag is about 70% Bobbi Brown. The woman can do no wrong.

Oh, herro there.
