friday reads

Here are some things to take a look at today when you're on your lunch break or you're killing time waiting for something to start working.
 - Do yourself a favor and read this Huffington Post column by Taylor Cotter, and then read what Gawker had to say about it. Please, tell me your thoughts. I might have a post next week to address my reaction (and maybe some of yours too).
 - Modern Love is probably one of my favorite columns ever, and this week's post is absolutely epic. Enjoy it.
 - In Northern Ireland this week, police put a dog named Lennox to sleep because they deemed him "dangerous." Why was he so dangerous? Because he fit the size requirements to be considered a pit bull. He was actually a bulldog-labrador mix. Despicable.
Have an excellent weekend, everyone!

  1. That is a great article! I read the "Why Women Still Can't Have it All" and was shocked, but in a good way. I definitely want to see a post from you from your perspective since you're in the field! It's very similar for Public Relations students like myself.

  2. Gawker is a bunch of dicks. Also, Ireland can go fuck themselves.

  3. You already know how offended I was by Taylor Cotter's assumption/ignorance about female journalists "her age". I found her column irritating and lacking any sort of self-awareness. But she's 22 so really -- I'm over it. Plus, I already shared my feelings with her, which makes me feel significantly better.

  4. Hold on...Ireland put a dog to sleep for WHAT?! Whenever I read stuff like that I put myself in their shoes and imagine if it were Dakota, and I thoroughly get TICKED and UPSET. Not okay, Ireland. Not okay.

  5. I get ridiculously angry when I hear stories like that (about Lennox). Not. Okay.

On the bright side, Toby has THE cutest face. I just want to kiss him!

  6. ugh, that story about the pup in ireland is just too awful. why do people jump to conclusions!?

in a happier note, that pup in the picture is just too cute. i love dogs!

  7. don't ever trust the irish! ps. I miss you!

  8. I actually heard that article on NPR yesterday and I was really unhappy about it. I would be very interested to hear your thoughts about it as well! Darling blog, happy I came across it! Have a great week!!
