13.1: take 3

This weekend will be my third half marathon in 16 months. Crazy? Maybe. But definitely crazy when you think about the fact that three years ago, I couldn't even run a mile. I decided I wanted to stop giving up on running. And I kept going.

And I haven't stopped since.

I'm excited about this race for a number of reasons. Maybe I'll finally get my redemption from two sub-par races. It's my first long race here in Boston, and Craig will be coming with Toby. My mom will be positioned along the race at a water station, so it'll be good to get a mid-race hug from her. Mom, I apologize in advance for my sweatiness.

On Sunday morning, I just want to have a good time. I want to smile for 13.1 miles. I want to feel a burn in my muscles, but know I'm surrounded by people doing the same exact thing. I hope to see my friends along the way, or at least some people yelling at me telling me to keep going.

I hope I run the whole thing.

I'm excited to toe the start line again. It's been too long.


  1. Have SO much fun!! I was training for my first half, and got a stress fracture in my foot halfway through the training :( I was soo sad, but I'm definitely convinced that I'll run one once I'm all healed! Hope you have a blast!!

  2. wow how inspiring!! how did you do it?? i'm a terrible runner, but the mr. loves it. i'd love to be able to run with him, but i just hate it. we'll be rooting for you!!
