marathon monday: 8 weeks

There are officially six weeks left of training, two weeks of taper and then BAM. Race day. It's sort of intimidating at this point. I couldn't do my long run last weekend due to, well, a blizzard and this week it snowed for the entirety of my run. It made it hard to trudge through the miles, but I finished 11 before I just couldn't see anymore.

I often wonder if people are sick of me talking about the marathon. I mean, shit. It's basically all I can talk about these days. It's all fundraising and running and stretching and MARATHON MARATHON MARATHON. I'm exhausted thinking about it all. And I sure as hell don't know that I'd want to listen to all of this shit all of the time.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me (I think). There's a possibility I might do this again, but more likely than not this will be it for me.

It's kind of nuts that just two weeks ago I was running in short sleeves...
I haven't seen a sidewalk not covered in snow in what feels like years. My ankles miss the clear sidewalks :(

  1. Hey girl! Hope you remember me from Hartford...Anyway, I am signing up for a 5k. I ran one about a year ago but am trying to get back into it! Any tips on how to start up running in this cold weather?

    1. Hey lady! It's rough running in the cold, but not impossible! Check out this post: http://www.thesagaofatwentysomething.com/2013/02/marathon-monday-9-weeks.html

It's mostly about dressing properly. Once you're dressed, you're ready to go!

  2. Well I promise I'm not getting tired of hearing about it, but I can relate to where you're coming from. Most of my friends don't run, so it's hard for people to "get it." A marathon fear I have is burnout. Will I ever want to run again after committing so much time to this??

BUT you're so close!! I can't wait to see how this goes for you! Hang in there!

  4. You can do it! I'm signing up for the Chicago Marathon tomorrow, which will be my first marathon. I know you're going to kill it, and I'll be looking back on these posts for inspiration this fall.
