cinque

So you may have seen this fun little thing floating around on the Interwebz. Where you share five things about yourself. My main girl Emily did it, and then my BFF Christin tagged me in it just two days later. And when you get tagged in something you do it DAMMIT!

So here I am. Sharing five things  you may or may not have known about me.
1 | When I was a kid, I put myself to bed at 6 p.m. on the reg. At my mom's parties when I was a toddler, people would become concerned when they couldn't find me. In actuality, I was just off in my bed. Sleeping. Because nothing cool happened after 6. I still love sleep a lot. I often go to bed around 9:30. Nothing good happens after 9:30. And if it is good, it can be DVR'd.

2 | I have severe eczema. It's plagued me since I was a kid. Since I've gotten older, I've gotten better about taking care of my skin, but when I was a kid I'd scratch myself in my sleep until I bled. It was pretty bad. It's the worst in the crook of my elbow, on my legs and on my tummy. Woof.

3 | Some of the time, I'm just plain unhappy. I've been in and out of therapy for most of my life trying to figure out why and how to fix it and how to control my anxiety. Since getting Toby, things have gotten significantly better, but there are still plenty of times when I'm sad or I will loathe myself and spend hours beating myself up. However, I try really hard not to let it consume my life.

4 | I hate bitter greens. This makes me a bad Asian because bok choy is a staple of our Chinese diet. But whatever. I think they're gross, and I refuse to eat them.

5 | I know I said I'm sometimes unhappy, but right now, I'm still the happiest I've ever been. I feel like I'm finally beginning to do things for me, that I'm taking on new challenges and I'm beginning to cut out things that make me feel bad. I'm also remembering to take my Lactaid more, so I can enjoy more dairy goodness. And THAT makes me the happiest panda in the landa.

So I'm supposed to tag people, but I feel like all of my friends have already done this. So instead, why don't you tell me some cool things about yourself. Or if you've already done this post, leave a link so I can go learn fun things about you :)

  1. Love the truth and honesty here! While I definitely feel like I'm going to an unhappy time, I love this age I'm at. It definitely allows us to choose us and do what we want to do. Discovering the things we truly love (and don't love...I finally accepted that no matter how "cool," concerts just aren't my thing) and doing them is the best.

And hilarious about you putting yourself to bed! I try to be in bed by 9-9:30 to at least read before I go to sleep...it's like I'm an old lady!

  2. so i am lactose intolerant too but i have a bad memory of taking lactaid as a child. it was before the gel capsules and they were just chalky...you know? they tasted like the smell of wet dog...amiright?

so instead, i stay clear of dairy or i don't bitch about the stomach ache because it is better than licking a dirty wet dog.

    end rant.

  5. I try to go to bed at 10pm every night because like you said I can DVR everything. Sometimes I'm unhappy too...there is just no explanation why, but I've noticed after I got my boyfriend's cat and spring rolled around I was happier. I actually found out I had a mild case of seasonal effectiveness disorder where the seasons actually dictated my mood. I'm glad to hear your the happiest you've ever been!

I just found your blog a few days ago, so this was nice finding out more about you! Have a great day!! =)

  6. Number 3. Number 3. Number 3. Oh girl. Katy helps me a lot, too. When I feel shitty I make myself get up and take her out or play with her or something. Such a little lifesaver.

  8. Love this post...and I'm totally doing it tomorrow btw, have to keep up with what the cool kids are doing, obviously! I hear you on #3, I have a tendency to stress out about things that really aren't that important and lose sight of the bigger picture more often than I'd care to admit. And also I'm super impressed with your going to bed early abilities, staying up way too late all the time is one of my worst habits, so I'm trying to work on it!
