marathon monday: 3 weeks

First: OMG OMG OMG THREE WEEKS UNTIL THE MARATHON.

Second: I can't believe how quickly this has gone by. Quite honestly, it feels like I was just setting out on my first long training run just a few weeks ago. On Saturday, I ran my last long run before race day. Like...shit.
I had wanted to do 22. All week I had wanted to do 22. And when I woke up on Saturday morning, I had to basically peel myself out of bed. I lay there for a while texting Bianca, and she tried to coach me out of bed. I hit the road at 9 a.m. I ended up covering 18 miles. My legs felt meh and my feet were feeling rough trying to break in my new sneaks (see above). Those are the sneakers I will run 26.2 in.

I definitely feel like I burned out a little running so much. I'm just so tired all the time. When I'm not running, I'm thinking about running. Or I'm trying not to stress about fundraising. It's hard. And then I feel like a jerk for complaining. Because this isn't that big of a deal compared to what cancer patients have to go through.

Tapering is going to be weird. As much as I whine about not having my weekends, I'm still going to miss it. And I'm also nervous that my body will forget how to run so far while I'm tapering. That tapering will cause me to fail during the marathon. Irrational fears, I know, but fears nonetheless.

Twenty-one more days until the Big Day. Meep.

  6. In spinning the other day the instructor did the entire class as if we were running the Boston marathon and I thought of you! Good luck with the rest of your training. I can't wait to hear how it goes. :)

  7. I'm in awe of anyone who can run further than 3 miles without feeling like they are going to die! That's awesome! What does one say to some one running a race? Enjoy your time traveling forward at an unnatural speed for a very long distance... too much?? :)
