marathon monday: 6 weeks

Six weeks until the marathon. And while running is great and all, really this marathon is about the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and finding a cure for cancer.
This weekend, I was one of many who gathered to say goodbye to a great man who was taken too soon because of cancer. Guys. Cancer sucks. It was heart-wrenching to see so many people so beside themselves because this man wasn't supposed to be gone yet. He had been diagnosed just a few months ago. And now he's gone.

I wish we could have done more for him sooner. I wish we had a cure now. But we don't. And that fucking sucks.

But there are things we can do to help. You can give a small donation to my run, or hell do your own race fundraising to help find a cure. You can volunteer. There are so many options. Cancer doesn't need to be a death sentence.

That's all I've got today guys. Hug your loved ones. Tell them you love them.

  2. Umm... what? You're running the marathon? You're officially insane, but you couldn't be doing it for a better cause! My friend Justine is running for Dana Farber, too. She lost her uncle to cancer last year, and we also lost my good friend's father. You're right - cancer sucks :(. So proud of you for doing this!

  3. I know you're talking about cancer, but did you see they cured HIV in a toddler within the last few days?! That's pretty amazing. Hopefully cancer research will see that type of break through soon.
