marathon monday: 1 week

Well that's weird. I thought I had more time. Guess there's really only one week left until the Big Day.
I'm just shy of $4,000 in my fundraising. While it's not my goal, maybe I'll be able to hit $6,000 in the next week. We'll see.

Regardless of how much money I've raised, I'm glad I'm doing this for Dana-Farber. I'm glad I've made the commitment to help them find a cure for cancer. Some days I really wanted to give up on this marathon thing. I didn't think I had it in me. I had really crappy runs, and it just made me not want to do it anymore. But I knew I had made a dedication to Dana-Farber. So I kept going. And now I have seven days standing between me and the marathon.

I wrote a post for Walk Jog Run detailing how I've felt during the past 17 weeks of running and fundraising. You should check it out. I'm pretty proud of it!

It's kind of weird that this is my last week of training. For the next few days, I'll be stocking up on fattening meals (hellooooo avocados), and then it's carbo-loading weekend. I'll be picking up my race packet and everything at the race expo this weekend, so make sure you follow along on Instagram for funtimes from there.

If you'd like to track me on race day, you can text RUNNER to 345678, and when they ask you for my bib number you can send 23151.

Meep.

  5. I can NOT even wait to hear about this all! I know my excitement level isn't as high as yours, but I'm over the moon for you! Is race day Saturday or Sunday? I'm volunteering at my half (since I can't run it) on Sunday. But either way...can't wait to follow!

  6. Try not to think of it as "end of your training" but rather "beginning of being a marathoner" whether that leads you to another race or your next this-is-going-to-be-a-ton-of-work-but-will-be-worth-it project.
    Proud of you,
    JP
