recipe: garlic mayo

I've spent too much money buying mayo in my lifetime when it's so easy to make. So stop paying for your mayo and start making it at home!
IMG_6749
1 room temperature egg
2 T apple cider vinegar
1/4 t ground mustard
1 clove garlic
1/4 t salt
approx. 1 cup olive oil

Add all of your ingredients except for the olive oil into a food processor and blend for about 1 minute. Slowly add in your olive oil through the spout and blend until the olive oil is fully incorporated. Refrigerate and enjoy!

This stuff tastes way better than store-bought stuff. And once you have all of the ingredients handy, it's significantly cheaper to make it at home.

  1. I've actually never made my own mayo–it sounds intimidating! But this recipe is simple enough, I should give it a try!

  2. But does it taste as good as my trusty Hellmann's?

  3. I make my own mayo all the time and I'm obsessed, it's SO good (and easy!) Although one thing I have found is that if you use normal EVOO, sometimes the mayo can have a really strong olive oil taste? I usually use extra light olive oil or my new favorite thing is to make it using avocado oil...mainly because I bought a GIANT bottle of avocado oil at Costco the other day and need ways to use it...LOL. This weekend we made homemade sweet potato fries and made some aioli (so basically just like mayo with extra garlic and a little truffle oil) and it was delish. I'll be posting that recipe on the blog soon btw!

Ok, way to leave the longest comment ever Jane about mayo. Ha.

  8. I LOVE homemade mayo! It's super easy since my eggs are already room temp (yay chickens!). I just made some regular mayo today! Any idea how long it's supposed to last?
