book shelf

Now that my train ride isn't as long (it's cut down 40 minutes!), I don't speed through books as quickly as I used to. However, since I'm home significantly earlier, I've been trying to read more in the evening. Gotta make up for it somewhere, amirite?

Here are a few I've been reading lately, and some I've got on my queue.
The Love Season || I picked this one up on a whim while at my local book store, and I was instantly hooked. It's a nice summer read full of characters I felt a great connection to. The way the story unfolds is interesting, and definitely kept my attention. I kept wanting to go back for more.

14 Minutes: A Running Legend's Life and Death and Life || I grabbed this book at the Boston Marathon expo back in April, but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to read a book about running. I just started it a few days ago, and I'm kind of sad I didn't start it sooner. It's an inspiring story about one of the greatest runners in the world, and what lead to his 14 minutes of death. Yeah. He was dead for 14 minutes. And then he came back. And he was out coaching again nine days later. It's crazy.

The Light Between Oceans: A Novel || I bought this the other morning on a whim because I saw Shannon and Anna talking about it on twitter. Have you read it? What are your thoughts?

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail || This book made my summer more complete. It was so amazing to learn more about Cheryl and her strength. It made me feel empowered as a woman. We can do so much. So so much, if only we put our minds to it.

You know the drill, leave me some suggestions! And follow me on Goodreads to see more of my bookshelf!

  1. Did you pick up The Love Season on clearance at Brookline Booksmith? Because I saw that and almost did the same thing :P Dying to read The Light Between Oceans too!

  2. I read Wild and liked it too. Definitely don't know if I could handle hiking that trail... actually, I know I couldn't!

  3. Thanks for the recommendations! These look interesting!

  4. love these reading swaps. I'm almost halfway thru Reconstructing Amelia and it's pretty good. I've added The Light Between to my cue!

    1. Adding Reconstructing Amelia. I trust you not to steer me wrong.

  5. I loved Wild, such a great read! I kind of thought it was going to be a little boring going in since it's about a woman walking hundreds of miles by herself, but i was so captivating! Plus, the author lives in Oregon I guess and is kind of a big deal in Portland apparently? Also, I heard that they're making the book into a movie and that Reese Witherspoon is going to play her, crazy! (not sure if that's true or not...) Anyway, I'll have to check out some of these other books you listed as well :)

  6. the last two are def on my list - anna has the best recommendations!

  7. These look so good! Especially intrigued by "Wild" -- I've seen it in bookstores and always wondered if it was good. Will definitely be picking it up -thanks girl!
