things to do in boston: ASSEMBLED

There's never a lack of things to do in Boston, but sometimes it feels like we're doing the same things over and over again. So this weekend we decided to spice things up by going over the river (the Charles) into our neighboring hood: Somerville. We rarely venture over there, so this was big for us. So what pulled us across the river?

The ASSEMBLED: Handmade Arts Market at Assembly Row! Let me tell you, it's worth the trip. Every Saturday in the summer (excluding some holiday weekends) there are local artisans selling handmade items including gorgeous jewelry, clothing, home products, bath products and more. Oh, and on top of that? There's food and music and different events. It's seriously awesome.

We popped over there with Toby this weekend, just in time for Pet Palooza. We saw amazing dogs participate in Dock Dog events. I wish we could get Toby to do that, but alas. Our pup is a bit afraid of the water. It's ok, we're not holding it against him.

Craig and I started the day with a delightful lunch from one of my favorite Boston food trucks Bon Me. Their food is always top notch, so if you're in the city make sure you try to find them. Craig went with a sandwich, while I opted for a noodle bowl. Both were delightful and gone in approximately 90 seconds.

We also visited an amazing vendor called The Green Mutt, which specializes in palm wax candles and ergonomic pet feeders. Their candles smell amazing, their dog is adorable and I can't wait to order Toby a slightly more appealing pet bowl than the boring silver ones we have now.

I highly recommend heading over there and checking them out. Peep Assembly Row on Twitter or fan them on Facebook to see all the cool things going on. ASSEMBLED will be going on throughout the fall, so if you get the chance to experience all of the fun! It was so much fun!

Disclosure: I was provided money to spend at ASSEMBLED in exchange for writing about it. All opinions are my own.
