race recap: brian honan 5k

Welp my big goal of PRing two weekends in a row didn't happen. However, I broke 30 minutes on each race so really, I can't be mad. Yesterday was the Brian Honan 5K here in Allston, so it was nice and close to home. It started at noon, which was nice because I could lounge around for the first half of the day, but I think that eventually became my downfall.

Realistically, the conditions were pretty good, with a high hovering somewhere in the low 70s, but I was grossly unprepared for how hot it would feel in the sun, and that definitely slowed me down. I, of course, had spent the morning worried that it would be raining during the race. Silly me. But in the end, the 5K went by fast, and I crossed the finish line in 29:33. Not great, but not terrible.

My friends were waiting for me at a local bar, where we had all-you-can-eat-brunch and Bloody Mary's. That made everything significantly better.
The race is part of a larger street fair in Allston, so I stuck around well after our brunch exploring the festival and Allston as a whole.
Also, totally just going to start doing yoga poses in front of random things and photograph it. That's the new plan.

In short, a Sunday spent running a 5K, eating brunch, drinking delicious drinks and exploring street fairs is just a great Sunday.

  3. Not great but not terrible? Sounds great to me! But, of course, that's coming from someone who gets winded somewhere around 1/4 of a mile. :) Congrats!
