why i cook food for my dog + happy birthday toby

Some of you may know, some of you may not, but I cook food for Toby fairly regularly. I know I sound super crazy, but there are many reasons why I do this.
The No. 1 reason why I cook for Toby is because he's part of my family. I care a whole lot about what goes into my body and Craig's body when it comes to food, so why wouldn't I care about Toby's food? It didn't make a lot of sense to keep feeding him dry kibble filled with who knows and was processed to the Nth degree to look like kibble. So I started cooking him some simple meals.

By cooking his food, I know exactly what goes into it. The above photo was a simple boiled chicken breast, quinoa and some pureed carrots. Three simple ingredients, one super happy pup. There's a whole mess of reasons why you should cook for your dog, most of which are explained in the book "Home Cooking for Your Dog." In short, this sort of diet can help alleviate the effects of allergies, illness and help give your dog a more well-rounded, holistic life. I highly recommend this cookbook if you love cooking and love your pooch.

ALSO! It's Toby's fourth birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOBY! Two years ago today, we brought Toby into our home and life has been full of joy and love and puppy cuddles ever since. I love him so very much, and I'm so glad to have spent another year with him. Here's to many, many more!
And yes, I made Toby pupcakes for his birthday. What of it?

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOBY!
You are such a good pup mom. Do you cook every single meal, or just sometimes? Macy only gets a homecooked meal if she's got an upset tummy or if I accidentally run out of dog food -- bad mom!

    1. Thanks boo! And I try to cook most meals. I do a big batch on Sundays and freeze portions of it for the end of the week. Since Toby's so small, I can usually get away with that!

  8. Puppies like to break cuddled up abutting to their mother and ancestors to break balmy and feel secure.Because pupy love are somewhat abased on their mother and charge to apprentice to get forth with added dogs.
