things to do in boston: barre & soul harvard square

a few weeks ago, i had the pleasure of heading to barre & soul's latest studio in harvard square to check out the digs and see what their barre class is like, i'm no stranger to barre classes, so i was curious to see how it differed from the other studios in the city.
barre & soul has the distinct honor of being harvard square's first barre studio and offers 48 barre and yoga classes throughout the week. i chose a friday morning barre class, and while it wasn't packed, i can imagine it'll be a hot spot once the students are back.

the studio is small, and inside the garage shopping center. once you walk in, it's all white and calming. the barre studio is long and narrow, with a row of windows that lets in tons of sunshine. monique got us started with some deep breathing to help us get centered, and then we got into the moves. like most other barre classes, we focused on distinct areas of our bodies before stretching them out. we did legs, seat, arms and core, and by the end i was DRENCHED in sweat. monique really worked us to our limits.

i really liked the pace of the class most; we didn't breeze through exercises, but weren't left in them for so long that i wanted to stab myself in the eye. we challenged ourselves, but i always knew i could make it to the end.

and! and! barre & soul is offering your first month of unlimited classes for just $69! AND! if you use the code VIP you can get an additional $10 off! so an unlimited month of yoga and barre classes for just $59. you really can't beat a deal like that. i'll definitely be back, and hope to see some friendly faces there!
